earlier<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">comments<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was asked by the interviewer to explain what he meant<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">by his previous statement on Nigerian youth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, Mr. Buhari said, \u201cYou know they say we are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">over 180 to 200 million people in Nigeria and 60 per cent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">are youth below the age of 30<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn the North, for instance, most have not attended<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">school or they abandoned halfway. If not because we had<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">favourable rainfall in the past two seasons; most of them<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">have no job, just idling away<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPeople like them, even if they go to the South, for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">instance, what they will make will not be enough to even<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">pay their rent not to talk of feeding, clothing and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">transport back home,\u201d the president said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the media might have caused the uproar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">generated by his initial comments and went on to say<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">what his government had been grappling with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat has not been explained enough and you know the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">media, especially the print, are simply doing whatever<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">they like. We spoke about it and I asked him not to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">respond but he refused and said he will just respond by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">stating the situation we met the country, where it is now<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and what was done in between and the monies we are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">getting,\u201d Mr. Buhari said<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The president repeated one of his controversial talking<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">points that oil sold at an average $100 a barrel for the 16-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">year rule of the People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Premium Times<\/em> examined the claim here last October and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">found that it was inaccurate.
